CLAT Coaching in Kolkata

CLAT 2027 & 2028 · Kolkata

CLAT coaching for Kolkata students, one price, no packages

Lawgic runs a single live online CLAT programme for Rs 20,000 flat — the whole course, not a starter tier. There is no Kolkata branch to visit and no local surcharge to pay, because the class is the same live session wherever you sit.

Lawgic is an online institute based in Mohali. We do not operate a classroom in Kolkata, and nothing on this page should be read as claiming one.

The NLU picture from Kolkata

NUJS is in your city, and it is one of the top NLUs in the country

The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences sits in Kolkata and is consistently spoken of in the same breath as NLSIU Bengaluru and NALSAR Hyderabad. Very few CLAT aspirants get to say the campus they are aiming for is in their own city. It also means the bar is high: NUJS closes far tighter than most NLUs, so a Kolkata student who wants to stay in Kolkata has to score like a national topper, not a local one.

What this means for your preparation

Where a Kolkata student actually stands

Having NUJS in the city cuts both ways. It is the outcome most Kolkata aspirants name first, and it is also one of the hardest NLUs on the list to convert. The students who get there are not the ones who prepared to reach a local college; they are the ones who prepared for the national top of the merit list and found NUJS inside their reach on the way.

The paper itself

What CLAT actually asks you to do

CLAT UG is 120 multiple-choice questions in two hours, marked +1 for a correct answer and −0.25 for a wrong one, with no penalty for leaving a question blank. Almost every question hangs off a passage, so the exam is closer to a reading test with five different subjects attached than to five separate subject papers.

20% of the paperEnglish Language

Comprehension passages of around 450 words, followed by inference, tone and vocabulary questions. Nothing is asked outside the passage.

25% of the paperCurrent Affairs & GK

Also passage-based, drawn from news of the preceding year. The heaviest section for most students, and the one that rewards steady weekly work.

25% of the paperLegal Reasoning

Principle-and-fact problems. No prior legal knowledge is needed or rewarded — you apply the principle you are given, even when it contradicts common sense.

20% of the paperLogical Reasoning

Argument structure, assumptions, flaws and analogies, again built on short passages rather than standalone puzzles.

10% of the paperQuantitative Techniques

Data interpretation from graphs and tables using class-10 level arithmetic. The smallest section, and the one most often abandoned too early.

Pattern and weightages per the Consortium of NLUs for CLAT 2026. Confirm the current year’s official notification before you plan around it.

Boards and the calendar

Fitting CLAT around the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE)

The Higher Secondary exams run in the same late-winter window as final CLAT preparation. Kolkata students on the WBCHSE board, and those in the city’s many CBSE and ICSE schools, all hit the same crunch: boards and CLAT revision competing for the same eight weeks.

Our classes are live, but every session is recorded and available afterwards, which is the part that matters most during board season. A missed class during exams is a class you watch later, not a class you lose.

One programme, one price

Rs 20,000 flat, everything included

We publish one price because tiered packages exist to make the real number hard to find. There is no premium tier holding back the good faculty and no separate charge for the test series. What a Kolkata student pays is what a Mohali student pays.

Rs 20,000
  • Live interactive classes
  • Full recordings, rewatch anytime
  • Complete study material
  • Full-length and sectional mocks
  • Weekly current affairs
  • One-to-one mentorship

Questions from Kolkata

Frequently asked

Is there a National Law University in Kolkata?

Yes. The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS, commonly called NUJS) is in Kolkata and admits through CLAT. It is West Bengal’s only NLU.

Does Lawgic have a coaching centre in Kolkata?

No. Lawgic is an online institute and teaches from Mohali. Every session is live and interactive, and recordings are available afterwards, so a Kolkata student gets exactly the same class as everyone else.

How competitive is NUJS compared with other NLUs?

NUJS is one of the tightest closing ranks in CLAT counselling, generally grouped with NLSIU Bengaluru and NALSAR Hyderabad at the top of preference lists. Check the current year’s official Consortium counselling data for your category before you plan around it.

When should a Kolkata student start preparing for CLAT?

Twelve to eighteen months is the realistic window for a serious attempt. If NUJS is the target, treat that as the floor rather than the ceiling — its closing rank sits near the top of the national list, so the preparation has to be pitched accordingly.
