The short answer
Good CLAT PG coaching does one job well: it trains you to read dense legal extracts — judgments, statutes, bare provisions — fast and accurately, under a 120-minute clock. It is not CLAT UG coaching with harder vocabulary. CLAT PG has no English or current affairs section; it tests how well you know law and whether you can apply it to unfamiliar facts. CLAT 2027 PG is on 6 December 2026, and applications close on 31 October 2026.

Key takeaways
- One section, 120 questions, 120 minutes, all built on extracts from judgments, statutes and regulations.
- Thirteen subjects, no published weightage — coaching that skips subjects is a gamble.
- Final-year LL.B. students can apply, and there is no upper age limit.
- Most institutes do not publish a CLAT PG fee — get the total in writing.
- Lawgic: Rs 20,000 flat, same teachers as our UG batches, free demo class first.
What CLAT PG 2027 actually tests
CLAT 2027, UG and PG, is on Sunday, 6 December 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., in offline mode. Applications close on 31 October 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
The PG paper has 120 objective questions, one mark each, to be solved in 120 minutes, in a single section. Every wrong answer costs 0.25 marks. There is no separate reading-comprehension section as in CLAT UG — the test is built from extracts of primary legal sources: court decisions, statutes and regulations. The subjects are:
- Constitutional Law
- Jurisprudence
- Administrative Law
- Law of Contract
- Torts
- Family Law
- Criminal Law
- Property Law
- Company Law
- Public International Law
- Tax Law
- Environmental Law
- Labour and Industrial Law
The Consortium has not published any subject-wise weightage, so treat every subject as fair game rather than guessing which topics carry more marks. Our CLAT PG syllabus guide goes subject by subject, and UG vs PG CLAT explains how the two papers differ.
One point on strategy: because a wrong answer loses only 0.25 marks, ruling out even one of four options before guessing gains +0.167 marks on average. That is not reckless guessing — it is a calculated call that serious CLAT PG coaching should teach you to make under time pressure.
Who can take CLAT PG 2027
You need an LL.B. or equivalent with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates). If you are a final-year LL.B. student appearing for your qualifying exam in 2027, you can still apply for CLAT 2027 PG and show proof of passing at the time of admission.
There is no upper age limit for CLAT 2027 PG, so working lawyers, teachers and anyone returning to law after a gap can apply.
The application fee is Rs 4,000 for General, OBC and NRI candidates and Rs 3,500 for SC, ST, BPL and PwD candidates. The Consortium has 26 member NLUs, and each publishes its own LL.M. brochure with its own requirements — read the brochure of every NLU you are targeting. Seven things CLAT PG coaching must have
Not every course labelled “CLAT PG” is built for the actual exam. Check any institute you are considering — including us — against these seven:
- Teaches from primary sources — bare acts, judgments, statutes.
- Full-length mocks on the real pattern (120 questions, 120 minutes).
- Reviews your mocks with you, answer by answer.
- Covers all thirteen listed subjects.
- Live classes with doubt-clearing, not only recordings.
- Fits around internships, college or a job.
- One clear fee in writing, with no add-ons.

Final-year LL.B. students and working lawyers share one constraint: limited, fragmented time. Online coaching suits both because it removes the need to relocate or attend fixed-location classes.
For final-year students, the advantage is flexibility around moots, internships and semester exams. Recorded classes mean a missed live session during internship season is not a missed topic.
For working lawyers, it means studying around court appearances or office hours. A programme with both live classes and recordings, and mocks you can take on your own schedule, fits a working calendar far better than a fixed in-person batch.
Either way, ask one direct question before paying: will someone review my mock answer by answer, or do I only get a rank and a percentile? The second is not real feedback.
What CLAT PG coaching should cost
Most CLAT PG coaching institutes do not publish their fees on their website. Students end up asking, comparing verbal quotes and hoping the number does not grow later with add-on charges for mocks, mentorship or study material.
Before paying any institute, ask for the total fee in writing — not a verbal quote, not a “starting from” figure — covering classes, mocks and mentorship. A flat, all-inclusive fee is easier to budget for, especially if you are paying for it yourself. Our CLAT coaching fees research shows what institutes actually publish.
Lawgic’s full CLAT PG course, one flat fee — the same as our CLAT UG course. Live classes, every session recorded, mocks reviewed with you and one-to-one mentorship. No premium tier, no add-ons.
Lawgic’s CLAT PG course
Lawgic teaches CLAT PG live online, with no centres — every student attends the same classes for the same fee. The course is taught by the same four faculty who run Lawgic’s live CLAT batches, led by co-founder Priyanka Dhillon. You get:
- Live online classes with doubt-clearing, and a recording of every session;
- Mocks reviewed with you, not just graded;
- One-to-one mentorship through the preparation — see what real mentorship should look like;
- A free demo class before you pay anything.
The demo lets you judge the teaching on a primary-source question, and whether the live format fits your schedule, before any financial commitment.
