Where a Lucknow student actually stands

The same CLAT score that opens RMLNLU is scored against the same national paper that opens NLSIU Bengaluru and NALSAR Hyderabad. What CLAT actually asks you to do
CLAT UG is 120 multiple-choice questions in two hours, marked +1 for a correct answer and −0.25 for a wrong one, with no penalty for leaving a question blank. Almost every question hangs off a passage, so the exam is closer to a reading test with five different subjects attached than to five separate subject papers.
Comprehension passages of around 450 words, followed by inference, tone and vocabulary questions. Nothing is asked outside the passage.

Principle-and-fact problems. No prior legal knowledge is needed or rewarded — you apply the principle you are given, even when it contradicts common sense.
Argument structure, assumptions, flaws and analogies, again built on short passages rather than standalone puzzles.
Data interpretation from graphs and tables using class-10 level arithmetic. The smallest section, and the one most often abandoned too early.

Boards and the calendar
Fitting CLAT around the UP Board (UPMSP)
UP Board Class 12 exams typically run through February and March, colliding head-on with the final CLAT revision window. Lucknow students on the UP Board need their syllabus finished well before boards begin, not during them. CBSE and ICSE students in the city get a slightly kinder calendar but the same squeeze.
