The short answer
We checked six major CLAT coaching institutes’ own websites between 31 July and 1 August 2026. Only two of them publish a real programme fee. The other four ask you to book a counselling call or download a brochure. Full-length programmes commonly run from about Rs 50,000 to over Rs 1,50,000 — but that is a range assembled from the few published prices, not an average, because most of the market will not say.
The discount with no price attached
Start with the single strangest thing we found. Law Prep Tutorial’s CLAT online coaching page advertises discounts of 26% to 49% across five different batches — Target, Finisher, English-Specific, Foundation and Elite. It does not show the price of any of them.
A percentage off an undisclosed number is not a discount. It is a reason to call. The only actual rupee figure visible on that page is a Breakthrough Batch marked down from Rs 999 to Rs 21, which is a lead magnet rather than a coaching programme. For everything else, the path to a price is “Book Free Counselling” or a brochure download — both of which cost you a phone number.
This is not a dig at one institute. It is the market norm, and Law Prep is simply the clearest illustration of it. What follows is what every institute we checked actually shows on its own site.

Checked directly on each institute’s own public course or fee page between 31 July and 1 August 2026. Prices change and pages get updated — verify before you pay anyone, including us. We have deliberately left gaps rather than estimating: inventing a competitor’s fee would make this article exactly as useless as the pages it is complaining about.
How we know the opacity is a real problem
You could argue that nobody actually wants a price on a landing page. The search data says otherwise. Using Google search volume for India (DataForSEO, July 2026), here is how many people each month are reduced to googling an institute’s fee because the institute will not print it:

That is roughly 1,250 searches a month for information the institutes could publish in one line. Note the pattern: the institute with the highest fee-search volume is the one advertising discounts without prices, and the one with the lowest is the one that publishes its fees openly. People stop searching when they can already see the answer.
The questions nobody publishes the answer to
While researching this we tried to answer the obvious follow-ups — what a crash course costs, whether fees differ between Delhi and Bangalore, what the refund policy is if you do not convert, whether instalments cost more than paying upfront, what category concessions exist. None of that is published either.
So rather than guess at numbers, here is the honest position on each, and what to ask:
- City-wise pricing. Institutes with physical centres generally charge more in metros than in smaller cities, but none of the six publishes city-wise rates. Ask for the fee for your specific centre, not the national brochure.
- Crash courses. CLATapult’s four-month CLATegize is published at Rs 50,000. No other crash-course fee among the six is public. Ask what the shortened course drops compared with the full programme — usually it is the foundation teaching, not the mocks.
- Refunds. No refund policy was published on any of the six pages we checked. Ask for it in writing before paying, specifically what happens if you withdraw in week two.
- Instalments. None of the six publishes whether paying in instalments costs more than paying upfront. Ask for both totals side by side and compare them yourself.
- Category and scholarship concessions. Rank-based discounts are commonly advertised — CLATapult publishes its rank-based reductions. Category-based concessions generally are not advertised at all. Ask directly.
The hidden-cost checklist
A headline fee is not a total. Before you compare two institutes, establish for each one whether the number you have been given includes:
- The full test series, or only a sample of it
- Printed study material and its courier cost
- Doubt-clearing sessions, or whether those are a paid add-on
- GST — a fee quoted excluding GST is 18% larger than it looks
- A second year of access if you decide to take a drop
- Any re-registration or renewal charge between batches
Two programmes with the same headline fee can differ by tens of thousands once these are added. That is why “cheapest” is a poor way to choose and “all-inclusive, in writing” is a good one.

An institute that answers all six in writing is one you can compare. An institute that will not answer the first has told you something useful anyway.

Coaching is one line in a larger budget. The others:
- The CLAT application fee. The Consortium of National Law Universities has not published the CLAT 2027 figure yet — its press release of 22 July 2026 confirmed the dates and said further details would follow. How much does CLAT coaching cost in India?

Why do CLAT coaching institutes hide their fees?
Because a counselling call converts better than a price tag. Once you are on the phone, the fee can be framed against a discount, a scholarship test or an instalment plan, and the conversation is about affordability rather than the number. There is nothing illegal about it, but it does mean you cannot compare two institutes without giving both your phone number.
What is the cheapest CLAT coaching in India?
We cannot tell you that, and neither can anyone else, because most fees are not public. Among the institutes that do publish, Lawgic is Rs 20,000 flat for the complete programme. Be careful with ‘cheapest’ as a criterion though — a low headline fee with the test series and material charged separately can end up costing more than a higher all-inclusive one.
Are CLAT coaching discounts real?
A percentage discount is only meaningful if you know what it is a percentage of. Law Prep Tutorial’s online coaching page advertises 26% to 49% off across five batches without showing the base price for any of them, so the saving cannot be evaluated. Rank-based and scholarship-test discounts are usually genuine, but always ask for the pre-discount and post-discount figure in writing.
What is included in a CLAT coaching fee?
It varies, and this is where the real cost sits. Ask specifically whether the quoted fee includes the full test series, printed study material, doubt sessions, GST, and access for a second year if you decide to take a drop. At Lawgic all of those are inside the Rs 20,000 — there is no separate test-series charge and no premium tier.
How much is the CLAT 2027 application fee?
The Consortium of National Law Universities has not published the CLAT 2027 application fee yet. Its press release of 22 July 2026 confirmed the exam date and the application window but said further details would follow. Do not budget from last year’s figure without checking the official notification.
